Getting to Cape Santa Maria may seem complicated, but it’s actually easier than you think. In many cases Long Island is just two flights away. You’ll be lounging on the beach with a cold beverage in no time!

There are two main air routes to Long Island, Bahamas: via Nassau and via Georgetown on nearby Exuma Island.

Flying to Long Island via Nassau

This is the most common route taken to Long Island. Nassau is the Bahamas’ capital city, located on New Providence Island. Cape Santa Maria guests will first fly to Nassau, then take a second flight to Long Island.

Step 1: Flying to Nassau

Nassau International Airport is the Bahamas’ major air hub, served by many international airlines. The following cities have direct flights to Nassau:

Step 2: Flying to Long Island

After flying to Nassau the next step is flying to Long Island. Several airlines offer scheduled service from Nassau to Long Island. Chartered flights are also available giving guests a number of options for getting to Long Island.

There are two airports on Long Island. We recommend landing at Stella Maris Airport, as that is the closest one to Cape Santa Maria.

Flying to Long Island via Georgetown

If you’re traveling through Miami or Fort Lauderdale, Florida you may prefer to arrive via Georgetown on nearby Exuma Island. The flight from Florida to Georgetown takes about an hour and half, and then another 15 minutes from Georgetown to Long Island over the beautiful Caribbean Sea.

Step 1: Flying to Georgetown

The following cities have direct flights to Georgetown:

Step 2: Flying to Long Island

Flights from Georgetown to Long Island are available with Island Wings Charter, a 15 minute scenic charter.

Island Wings offers a private charter service direct to Cape Santa Maria, with service from Ft Lauderdale. Guests travel in a safe and comfortable Piper Aztec plane, and enjoy stunning views of the Straits of Florida below.

The one-way charter fare from Florida is $2,600 USD (plus fees), and will carry up to five passengers, ($520 USD per person) and the pilot.

Private Pilots

Cape Santa Maria and Long Island are high on the list of preferred destinations for private pilots. 

There are two airstrips on northern Long Island: Cape Santa Maria and Stella Maris.

Whether you stay for a night or a month, private pilots enjoy a 15% discount on beachfront accommodation, with some blackout dates during peak travel periods.
