About the Cape - Private Pilots

Touch Down. And Take Off 15%

The view from a plane over the beautiful blues of the Bahamas is widely considered the most spectacular sight in the world. If this isn’t enough reward, private pilots get a special welcome at Cape Santa Maria. Pilots who arrive on Long Island in a private plane receive our deepest discount. Our Private Pilot’s Rate offers 15% off our regular rate (please note some blackout periods apply).  Let us know your E.T.A. at Stella Maris Airport (SML) and a taxi will be waiting for you.

This rate is available by calling The Cape Reservations Crew directly at 1-800-926-9704.

Annual Fly-Ins

Cape Santa Maria has been a favourite destination for pilot groups for decades. Not only are the resort facilities ideal, the beautifully maintained Stella Maris Airport offers fuelling, customs, and a short 15 minute taxi trip to our lobby reception. If you like to talk shop with like-minded pilots, share stories, get ideas, or just show off your plane (we know you do!), reach out to any of the following fly-in organizers. Michael Turner and Jim Parker will gladly share Cape experiences with you and sign you up for a lifelong friendship.

South Eastern Bonanza Society

For 14 years the South Eastern Bonanza Society (SEBS) have been gracing the skies over Cape Santa Maria with their beautiful planes and skillful formation flying. Michael Turner has seen the numbers jump from 18 planes and 50 guests to 41 planes (mostly Bonanzas and Barons) and 90 guests in 2019. This year we also welcomed one Citation Mustang, a Lancair Legacy, and an RV6 to the show! Pilots flew from TX, TN, NY, FL, and as far away as Wisconsin. Beach BBQs with live local music, (paddle)board meetings, margarita night, and an extraordinary airshow above the resort highlight an event not to be missed by any passionate pilot.

Caribbean Flying Adventures

Jim Parker and his wife Margie have been bringing the Caribbean Flying Adventures family to the Cape since 2007. What started with 14 planes and 28 guests expanded to 24 planes (from Cessna 172s to a Citation Jet) and 55 guests in 2019. In addition to plenty of beach time, the group enjoys a group night out at neighbouring Stella Maris Restaurant, an excursion to Staniel Cay to visit Exuma’s swimming pigs and snorkel at Thunderball Grotto, and a day of fishing with our own Captain Bert. Contact Jim at [email protected] to join the fun!

Welcome to a different world.
